OVERVIEW
Our Wind Blade Services division, formed in 2008 in Long Beach, CA is a complete evaluation, inspection and repair services company for utility-scale wind turbine blades run by a TEAM OF BLADE PIONEERS.
International Wind sees the blade service business as an endeavor and perfect opportunity to harness its historical understanding and extensive experience in dealing with composite materials and structures. International Wind’s certified technicians are committed to professionalism, quality and exceptional customer service and at the same time perform work safely and cost-effectively with a focus on minimizing downtime of the wind asset.
Our design team’s expert credentials stem out of Germany. Beginning in 1979, our most seasoned chief blade engineer Mr.Walter Keller created the first wind turbine blade factory known as AEROCONSTRUCT. Throughout the course of this 34 year time frame he developed and produced master/production molds for wind turbine blades extending in size from: 6m, 8m, 9.2m, 10m, 17m, 19m, 20.2m, 22m, 22.2m, 24.2m, 30m, and 40m. These blades were purchased by large OEM’s spread across North America, Europe and Asia. In 1997 after garnishing worldwide interest and market penetration, our seasoned chief engineer sold his blade factory to LM Glass Fiber and later went to become Chief Blade Engineer for a German based Wind Turbine OEM.
During this new role with the German based wind OEM, Mr.Keller connected with Boeing trained aerospace engineer Mr.Cory Arendt & went on to assist him and his engineering & production team to build a 30 meter blade for his company in 2003. After the successful completion of this project, this team came together to build a blade design & consulting company based out in Dahn, Germany and Long Beach, California. This team conceived and built out a 45 meter blade constructed in sections which was then successfully tested both statically and in fatigue and was certified by Germanischer Lloyd (GL.) Over the last 7 years of involvement in these programs, International Wind has logged over 350,000 hours of field work. International Wind’s Quality Control Inspectors, Field Engineers, and Technicians continue to sharpen their understanding of the wind industry, excelling repair challenges across the North America, Europe and all over the globe.
